Team Frankie

Frankie Knowles is a sweet, loving 6 year old who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2018.  He was brought to the local emergency room with a bad headache, vomiting and extreme lethargy.  They did a CT scan and determined he had a brain bleed.  He was flown to A.I. DuPont where his endocrinology and neurosurgeon team are based.  There, they did an MRI and found the brain tumor.  He had a procedure to relieve the pressure the blood was putting on his brain.  After the first test for one type of tumor was negative (yay!), a biopsy is now necessary to identify the type and also relieve continued pressure from fluid buildup.  The tumor location is compressing the connection to the pituitary gland. While he was extubated, is breathing on his own, and is starting to converse when not asleep, there are still further tests and procedures to be performed to determine the path forward.   This unfathomable situation for this sweet child bears unfortunate costs.  The funds raised here can be put toward the undesired, impending bills.  While one could only hope that the cost of this type of care would be reasonable, the reality is that unexpected healthcare bills are never reasonable.  Please join the efforts to raise funds to support Rick and Erica in this time of need.  As their focus will be on strength, love, and support to Frankie, and, their daughter Brooklyn, let's help relieve this burden from their minds. #TeamFrankie
