My brother, Martin Louis Gordon, was taken from us in a heartbreaking and senseless act of violence. Martin was only 30 years old and had just moved to Grovetown from Maryland this year to build a better life for his two young children — his 8-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son.

Martin was a dedicated student at Helms College in Augusta, committed to creating a brighter future for his family. Even when transportation was a challenge, he refused to miss class, determined to keep his perfect attendance record.

Tragically, after his Monday night class, Martin was fatally stabbed outside the school on Washington Road. He was not a confrontational person—just a loving father and brother who cared deeply for his family.

Our family is devastated, and right now, we are focused on preparing to tell his children, giving them one more day before sharing this terrible news.
