On May 23rd our dad, Jorge, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer that had metastasized to his lungs and liver. After a successful surgery to remove the mass in his colon he came home to recover and gain strength in hopes to start a palliative chemo treatment in the near future.
Sadly, on June 19th he was admitted back to the hospital. This time with sepsis and we nearly lost him. Per our dad's nature, he had been a fighter every step of the way. Unfortunately, his body started failing him and after several tests, it was concluded that there was nothing else to do other than to help him stay comfortable.
On June 21st, 3 of his daughters were granted permission from the U.S. Government to travel to the States to be by his side (because of the travel restrictions put in place due to Covid-19). They arrived on June 23rd and on June 24th he was transported home to be in hospice care where the 5 of us daughters and our mom cared for him 24/7. We all did our best to keep him comfortable during the day and worked in shifts at night to care for him.
Our dad passed away the morning of June 29th, 2020, at his home and in company of the 6 women that he loved dearly.
The bills started racking up quick the moment he was discharged from the hospital after his surgery and while we are doing our best to budget, it is simply putting a lot of strain on all of us. If you are able to contribute anything to help relieve some of this financial burden it won't go unnoticed or unappreciated. And if you can't make a monetary contribution, all we ask of you is to keep our family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of the man that gave us his all.
He will be forever missed.
