Our good friend, fellow motorcycle rider and valuable member of our moto community, Brent, was in a tragic motorcycle accident while on a vacation in Ireland in August. Brent had done all of the right things ahead of his travels. He had travellers health insurance which thankfully covered his initial medical bills while out of the country. 

Brent sustained very serious and life threatening injuries from his accident. He survived a harrowing spinal surgery (among many other procedures) followed by almost a month in hospital in Ireland before being flown back to Canada to continue recovering in hospital here. It was only after arriving in Canada that doctors told him about his spinal cord injury, that will impact the way he lives his life for the foreseeable future. 

Brent is working on his recovery in the Glenrose Hospital in Edmonton, AB. There are a lot of unknowns for Brent right now, but one thing is certain: his life is changing. He will need many very expensive care items in order to begin to relearn to walk, and to adjust to a life at home with the challenges and unknowns of a spinal cord injury. Alberta Health Care does not cover the costs of these items. 

Reluctantly but with so much gratitude, Brent is accepting help from his community to assist him as he courageously fights his way through all of this uncertainty.
