Memories and Wish Donation Fund for Our Loving Friend, Co-worker and So Much More – Carole Prewett
Still Around
“People do not die for us immediately, but remain bathed in a sort of aura of life which bears no relation to true immortality, but through which they continue to occupy our thoughts in the same way as when they were alive. It is as though they were travelling abroad.” Marcel Proust (1871 – 1922), France
Writing this note, I reflect on Proust’s quote, and with a heavy heart, think fondly, lovingly, and yes, sadly, of my dear friend Carole Prewett. With that, I’m sharing this plan, that perhaps you will join me in thinking of her, and making her wish a reality, as well.
Imagine sitting on the sands of Costa Rica, where the climate is perfect, people friendly and miles of ocean stretch out in front of you. You peer out from your beach umbrella, fondly allowing the memories of loved ones to drift through your mind.
Or climbing along the Great Wall of China, absorbing the magnitude of centuries and cultures that came before you. Or marveling at the pyramids of Egypt, holding the secrets of those who built them. Or even the more at-home experiences, travelling through the best wineries in the world, in Napa Valley, during the crush. Sipping from the finest grapes of Alexander Valley, and enjoying the laughter and banter of fellow travelers and wine lovers.
Although Carole didn’t have a chance to experience the many travels she contemplated, one of her last wishes was to have her loving daughter, Elizabeth, share in those dreams… and more… making them a reality for herself in Carole’s memory.
That’s why we, Carole’s friends, family and co-workers, have started a fund to support Carole’s dream. And to honor her wishes.
And we’d like your help, to become a part of the memory-making, too!
We’re asking that a gift be made as an option, in lieu of flowers or other contributions, to Carole’s Travel and Imagination Fund. A fund for Elizabeth to take her mom’s memories and to travel to those exotic and memorable places Carole only dreamed of:
Israel
Mallorca
Monument Valley and Oak Creek Canyon
The Great Wall of China
Australia
Costa Rica
The Pyramids of Egypt
Napa Valley
Colorado
The Chardonnay region of France
None of us know the number of our days. Carole certainly didn’t know hers. Carole was always willing and eager to help others, and was a loving mother and loyal friend. Her laughter and sense of humor made each of our lives better. Never to deny helping someone who asked, we’d like to return that favor now, and love her back the way she loved all of us. Openly. Graciously. Without hesitation. But for a life too short, she may have been able to give this gift to her daughter. We know how special Carole was to you, and to all of us. We also know how special Elizabeth was to her. She would have given anything to share this time with Elizabeth.
Please help us make Carole’s dream more than a dream. And give to her and Elizabeth what they would have shared together. And the memories Elizabeth can share of mom’s wished-for places, and memories, for a lifetime.
In loving gratitude, for the way she touched our hearts, on behalf of Carole and Elizabeth.
