Help me beat homelessness
Donation protected
I am 22 years old and currently homeless. I don’t have a drug or alcohol addiction or mental illness; I just got dealt a really bad deck of cards.
I don’t have any family members I can call. My mother is addicted to drugs and has been on the streets since I was 15. I never met my father. My mother was a single child, so I don’t have any aunts, uncles, or cousins. My grandma was a widow, and she passed away when I was 10, so I don’t have any grandparents either.
I've been on my own since 15, and I had my own place, but I got sick earlier this year and wasn’t financially prepared after losing my job.
I’ve tried to get into almost every shelter there is around me, but as a young man, it’s hard. Veterans are a priority. After that, it’s the old and disabled. And after that, it’s the people struggling with addiction.
I have been sleeping outside, but I’m only getting 2 hours of sleep a night and getting hit up by bugs every night. I have a clean record, and I live with constant fear of somebody trying to hurt me in my sleep or waking up in handcuffs. I’m mentally drained and feel like I’m going to fall out every single day. Please help.
