Help a Single Mom Regain Her Independence After a Life-Changing Brain Injury

Over ten years ago, my friend’s life changed forever. At 26 years old—newly married and 8 weeks pregnant—she survived a devastating car accident. Her symptoms were mistaken for pregnancy-related issues, and her traumatic brain injury went undiagnosed for far too long. By the time doctors realized what had happened, the damage was nearly untreatable.

She did years of therapies, doctor appointments and "all the things." Today she is a single mother of two beautiful daughters in Colorado, doing everything she can to give them a safe, stable, and loving life. However, her brain injury still impacts her in ways most of us can barely imagine.

Her biggest challenge? The loss of basic independence.

While she is legally allowed to drive, the effects driving can have on her brain, nerves, and body are substantial. For over a decade, she has relied entirely on cabs, Uber, Lyft, and the kindness of friends just to get her children to school, to doctors, to sports, to the grocery store, and home again. This means constant stress, unpredictable costs, missed appointments, cancelled plans, and too many moments of being stranded in the cold or the dark with her kids. She cannot simply grab medicine when her daughters are sick, pick up groceries, or attend a birthday party without arranging—and paying for—transportation.

But there is hope.

Recently, she had the chance to try an adaptive vehicle and for the first time in her children’s lives, she drove them to school by herself. She made it to church, the store, and even got her kids home safely during a sudden Colorado downpour on the soccer field. That new opportunity showed her what life could look like: freedom, dignity, and the ability to care for her family without fear, dependence or added burdens. Now, we want to make that freedom permanent.

We are raising funds to help her transportation costs and purchase an adaptive vehicle—something that will truly change her and her daughters’ lives. This isn’t just a car. It’s stability. It’s safety.

Whether you can give $1,000, $100, or even the cost of a single ride ($35 for school drop-off, $70 for a round trip, $21.25 to get dropped off to soccer)—every donation brings her one step closer to independence.

Please give towards this cause if you are able and please share with others. They have had a long road - Let's help them take the wheel and move towards a brighter future.

Thank you for joining with us to pave a way for their future
