Operation: Get Gus Healthy!
Donation protected
Hi! I’m Haley and I am an animal lover!
This is Gus, aka: Moses, Walker, Slim, Fletch
Thursday, April 28th: I saw Gus walking along the highway on my way to the beach. I couldn’t get to him and I saw his tail just a wagging every time a car would slow down. I called my husband hysterical.
Sunday, May 1st: I saw Gus again. Almost 70 miles from where I saw him 4 days before. He was walking in the middle of the road. He was very dehydrated and malnourished and gland tumors hanging from underneath him. I brought him home. We bathed him, feed him, and loved on him.
Monday, May 2nd: at 1:38 am Somehow, Gus escaped our backyard. I drove around looking for him. He was found around 6 am, hit by a car. Nothing major. Only spooked and a few scratches. He was given many X-rays, fluids, vaccinations, and love at Shandonwood. Unfortunately, he tested heart worm positive. The tumors are non-cancerous and can easily be removed with sedation. Unfortunately, the tumors look painful/gross and he has to have the heart worm treatment. The estimate I received was $1100-$1900 for removal of tumors and $500-$1000 for heart worm treatment.
Wednesday, May 4th: Now Gus is at home with us- until we find his forever home. We have 2 other male dogs at home and one is on daily medicine. I have already $300 invested in Gus and I am not giving up on him. If you would consider donating any amount. I am grateful.
Gus is a Tricolored Treeing Walker Coonhound. He is about 10 years old. He is the sweetest boy. His tail and his smile are my favorite. He loves to eat and needs a big back yard to roam(but no too far).
Please note: I have emailed and called 12 total rescue shelters and only 1 has responded stating it would be weeks before they could help.
Please help Gus get back to looking super handsome and healthy as much he is loved!
I am super grateful for any amount you can donate or sharing this post!
