Help My Cats

Donation protected
My name is Joellen, and I am the Mom to these 4 legged kids. I never expected to have these kind of vet bills hit me all at once. I love my animals and will do anything in my power to give them the best care. ALL funds will go directly to pay for their care.

Thank you for taking the time to view this page.

I have had 3 cats diagnosed with cancer this year.

• Teddy was diagnosed with nasal lymphoma 8/23/2023 was treated with focused radiation at UC Davis. Teddy was born on our property just over 14 years ago. His Mom, Mona used to come to eat at our house and my husband remarked how Mona was "getting fat", I told him she looked pregnant. We quickly gathered her up and set her up in a large catio with a comfy place for her have her kittens. 2 weeks later Teddy and his 5 brothers were born. Teddy is a very sweet extremely affectionate cat who loves to sit on laps and loves to cuddle.
Cost of treatment: $12,000
Median Survival: 1 - 3+ years

• Slim was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in his salivary gland on 9/3/2023. Unfortunately, after a CT scan and consult at UC Davis it was found that his cancer had already metastasized and there is no treatment for his kind of cancer. Slim showed up on our property around 8 years ago, extremely thin when he was around 1 years old. My husband named him Slim. We set up a catio for him and got him neutered. He got regular feedings of yummy canned food and free choice dry food. Soon, my husband dubbed him "not so Slim". Slim is a very friendly and affectionate cat, He loves children. Slim is also FIV (feline aids) positive from living with a probably squabbling with other cats before he found us.
Cost of treatment: unknown at this time (will update)

• Annie was diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma. She received treatment from UC Davis through a clinical trial. Sadly, she passed away just 8 months after diagnosis. Annie came into our lives with her sister, Ricci, when they were dumped at a local feed store where my daughter worked when they were just 2 weeks old. My daughter called me and told me. We brought them home and bottle fed them. Annie always loved my daughter best, and my daughter loved her best. Annie was my daughter's "heart cat". She loved being carried around draped over my daughter's shoulder. She liked to talk to my daughter with a "meow-reow", a special thing she mostly reserved only for my daughter.
Cost of treatment: $8000

2 more cats have serious (and expensive) health conditions.

• Link had congestive heart failure. Link showed up on our property 16 years ago when I was teaching a class for reactive dogs, not the best time to wander into a class. He was around 12 weeks old. He is what his veterinary internist describes as "a Golden Retriever in a cat suit". He loves EVERYONE! He is extremely affectionate and is probably one of the most tolerant cats I have ever met. Everyone who has ever met him LOVES him and he LOVES them. He purrs constantly. He is the happiest cat in world! When we found out he had an enlarged heart we said it must because he needed it to hold all the love he has inside.
Sadly, Link developed septic peritonitis and had to be euthanized on 11/7/2023. He passed peacefully in my arms.
Cost of treatment: Echocardiogram every 3 - 4 months $1200 - $1500
Blood work every 6 - 8 weeks $350 - $400
Medications monthly $350 - $500

• Melina is in mid stage kidney failure. She also has a tumor in her left lung, which has grown significantly in the past 3 months. Her kidneys are doing much better. She is on medications and gets subcutaneous fluids daily. She also gets blood work done every 6 weeks. Melina came to us much like Annie. She was dumped with her sister at that same feed store 2 weeks before Annie and her sister were dumped. They were also around 2 weeks old and we bottled fed them.
Cost of treatment: Daily subcutaneous fluids $6 - $10 per day
Blood work every 6 weeks $350 - $400
Medications monthly $200

All are receiving the best treatment, but the cost of that treatment is rapidly mounting. Even a small donation will help. It takes many drops of water to fill a bucket, but with enough drops the bucket can overflow.

Teddy is 14 years old and he has nasal lymphoma. He received 16 radiation treatments at UC Davis to extend his life 1 - 3+ years and is currently do FANTASTIC.
Cost $12,000

Slim is 11 years old and he has adenocarcinoma of his right salivary gland. He is FIV (Feline Aids) positive. After more diagnostics at UC Davis it was found that his cancer has already metastasized to nearby lymph nodes. We are keeping him happy and pain free until he's not.
Diagnostics $3000
Medications $75 per month

Annie was 14 years old and had oral squamous cell carcinoma. Sadly, after extensive treatment including a clinical trial at UC Davis, she lost her battle with cancer in July 2023 after a 8 month battle. Her vet bills were around $8000

Link is 16 years old and was is in congestive heart failure.Sadly, Link developed septic peritonitis and had to be euthanized on 11/7/2023. He passed peacefully in my arms. His monthly medications ran around $500. He gets blood work about every 6 weeks $400. He also gets an echocardiogram about every 4 months $1500. His final vet bills were around $2000

Melina is 14 years old and is in mid stage kidney failure. She gets blood work and urinalysis every 6 weeks $450. She is on daily sub cutaneous fluids $10 per day. Medications $60 per month. She also has some "growths" in her right lung which have grown significantly in the past 3 months. Her kidneys are functioning better, but we are now unsure if surgery is still an option to remove her lung containing the cancer.
