As many of you know, my husband, Jason had multiple strokes and has been in the hospital since Dec 27. He has no peripheral vision in left eye and numbness on left extremities. They say vision can take months to return to normal. He is doing extensive inpatient rehab 3 hours a day 5 days a week for speech, occupational and physical therapy. The drs are trying to get insurance approval for another week of inpatient rehab. Once he finally gets discharged, he will need outpatient therapy 3x a week. The drs and therapists say he is making great progress but still has a long way to go. We have no eta of when he can return to work. We have made some accommodations in the house to make it easier for him when he returns home.
Jason is a hard worker and main provider for the family. It's been, and going to continue to be, a difficult time for our family, not only emotionally but also financially.
The uncertainty of his recovery and the mounting expenses have made things even harder.
Jay only has short-term disability at 60% of salary for 12 weeks which will make it very difficult to make ends meet. He does not have long-term disability.
I will need to arrange/pay for transportation to/from his outpatient therapy as i don’t qualify for FMLA due to new job and the only public transport options require him to be able to get in/out of vehicle without assistance. This, coupled with medical deductible adds further financial challenges.
My in-laws are coming up to help for a little bit when he gets discharged.
We're reaching out for help during this challenging time. Any support you can offer will go directly toward our everyday and upcoming medical expenses, while Jason can focus on getting better.
Anything helps, and we are so grateful for your kindness and generosity.
Kelly, Jason, Abigail and Jaxon
