50 Miles For Bladder Cancer
Donation protected
In June 2022, at the age of 52, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer, despite having none of the risk factors. Even after four operations to remove the cancer and several rounds of chemotherapy, the cancer was persistent and fast growing. So, in May 2023, the only option was to have the life-saving operation to remove my bladder. Throughout this fraught year and beyond, the Urology Department at the EDGH have been outstanding. Words will never truly be enough to describe how brilliant they have been.
With that in mind, I, along with my daughter and son are walking a total of 80km (50 miles) along the South Downs Way, from Amberley to Eastbourne. We shall be completing this on the weekend of 13/14th September to raise money for the staff of the Urology Department at EDGH and to fund research into bladder cancer though Fight Bladder Cancer UK. It is important to us to raise awareness of this 'forgotten' cancer which receives limited research funding.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated, to help prevent other families going through the same.
