The Barbara Morrison UCLA Scholarship

Tax deductible

Barbara was beloved. That love for her continues to be felt by her local community of Leimert Park, by her fans all over the world, by her friends and family, and by those of us privileged enough to have played music with "Queen B".

Barbara was committed to music education, working with many young singers through her Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center and as a faculty member at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.

In 2020. the Friends of Jazz at UCLA, a support group for the UCLA Global Jazz Studies program, worked with Barbara to create the Barbara Morrison Jazz Scholarship. The goal of the Barbara Morrison Jazz Scholarship is to support the development of young jazz singers at UCLA.

Last year, Barbara’s unexpected death interrupted her efforts to fund the scholarship at the minimum $100,000 endowment level, so that her scholarship would help aspiring young singers forever.

If the Barbara Morrison Jazz Scholarship does not reach the $100,000 endowment level, it will last only a few years, until the funds are depleted.

If the Barbara Morrison Jazz Scholarship reaches the $100,000 endowment level, it will help develop young jazz singers FOREVER, in Barbara's name.

Barbara passed on March 16, 2022. Through the generosity of the people Barbara loved, her estate was settled.

Today, we ask again for your generosity so that we can all remember Barbara’s unmatched artistry, her beauty as a human being, and to ensure that her legacy continues to inspire and support future generations of singers.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 to endow the Barbara Morrison Scholarship by this coming September 10th, which would have been Barbara’s 74th birthday.

Make your birthday gift for Barbara to give what she dedicated her life to – supporting young singers who will carry forward an incredible vocal jazz legacy.

Please join us by making your gift today, You will help complete the work that Barbara started at UCLA. Make your gift count even more by sharing this GoFundMe link with your friends and music lovers like you.
