My sweet little Bella was attacked by a PitBull inside the owners house last month. It was extremely traumatic for me as I was in the middle of the attack & shoved my hand in the PitBull’s mouth trying to get my baby free. When he finally released her she fell lifeless with bloodshot eyes & bleeding everywhere! I too was covered in her blood from literally my face down to my ankles! My friend ran out of another house & helped me rush her limp little body to the closest emergency vet where she had to stay the night.
The vet said she was lucky to be alive! Her lung was bruised (thankfully not punctured), she had air caught subcutaneously around her neck from the dog thrashing her around and her canine tooth was ripped out by the other dog during the attack; leaving a hole in her mouth & jaw bone creating an opening up into to sinus cavity. This explains the blood coming out of her nostrils.
A couple days later she developed a very large puss filled abscess on her neck around the bite wound. I took her back to the vet & they kept her overnight again to perform a 2nd procedure under sedation & insert 2 more drain tubes.
Since the emergency vet did not have the necessary equipment to properly fix the hole in her mouth they referred me to a dental specialist. Sadly the dental clinic heard a heart murmur so they aren’t willing to perform the surgery until she sees a cardiologist first
At this point the owner of the PitBull tried to turn things around and lay blame on my, backing out of paying for all of her medical care
I have already charged over $2,500 on my credit card & she still needs oral surgery which I am unable to do for her without help. I support myself with Permanent Disability. I have congestive heart failure & anxiety, so Bella is my registered Emotional Support Animal.
I do plan on trying to get the money from the PitBull owner, but that process is going to take time & Bella needs the surgery done sooner than that.
I have included pictures of her after she got home from emergency as well as the main medical bills thus far and the estimate for her oral surgery.
Any help would be so greatly appreciated If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to message me and I’d be more than happy to address them or provide more information.
Thank you
