I’m reaching out on behalf of my daughter Lauren and her beautiful little boy Murphy. What started as a routine vaccination booster on Thursday quickly turned into a terrifying emergency. Murphy was found to have a grade 4 heart murmur and a small hematoma on his leg, but that night, things took a turn for the worse when he developed large dark red/purple hematomas all over his stomach, shoulder, and back. After rushing him to the emergency vet, Murphy had several blood tests and scans, and we were told to watch him closely.

That night, Murphy’s condition worsened—he became very lethargic, started panting, had a temperature, and was urinating in his sleep. More tests revealed he was bleeding internally, with dangerously low red blood cells and almost no platelets. He was very anemic and urgently needed a blood transfusion. After being admitted to the hospital, he has had daily blood tests and a CT scan that showed a mass which is now being checked for cancer. We still don’t know what is causing the bleeding or how long he will need to be in the hospital, and he will need chemotherapy and steroids to help his body heal, regardless of the outcome.

Unfortunately, because of preexisting health issues Murphy had before we adopted him 8 years ago, his insurance won’t cover any of the vet bills. The costs have already reached £7,000 and are still rising. Any support or donations would mean so much to Lauren and would help ease her stress, allowing her to focus all her energy on caring for her special little boy.
