Please help me raise awareness and help Nick's family rebuild. And THANK YOU.
Last year, my colleague Nick and his family lost their home to a fire. I happened to learn about this just recently when I noticed Nick working at odd hours of the night and after he had just donated money to another friend in need. Of course he wouldn't mention it to anyone. That's just the way Nick is - always wanting to help everyone else and never wanting to display or overburden someone with his problems. A kind-hearted, gracious, and wonderful human being I have had the pleasure of working with over the years.
After poking and prodding, though, I learned the extent of this devastation's impact on the entire family's well-being and mental health. No wonder Nick has been staying up to keep busy with work. Out of respect for their privacy, I will not mention the details of their ordeals, but I will say to anyone out there dealing with anxiety, stress, or mental burnout - YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We are fortunate to live in a country where we can seek and obtain help, but as you all know, the costs associated pile up quicker than we can imagine. Not to mention the costs associated with rebuilding a home and anything else that comes up day-to-day (bills, insurance, car payments, etc.). Please help me raise awareness to Nick's situation and please donate anything you can - every dollar counts and every dollar donated will go straight to Nick's family. Let's help them rebuild. Thank you all so much in advance!
P.S. Having just come out of Mental Awareness Month, I think it's also important to provide a few links for those who would like them:
Mental Health Month NAMI
National Council for Mental Well Being
Youth gov Mental Health
Also, October is Health Literacy Month and National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month. American Behavioral Clinics
