YWAM Newcastle Discipleship Training

Hi friends and family!
I am so excited to share that I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Newcastle, Australia with Youth With A Mission to participate in a 6-month discipleship training school, from July 8 to December 14, 2019. This program combines face-to-face teaching and hands-on experience in a full-time discipleship community, which equips students with practical skills for ministry. I am so excited to use this time to grow in my relationship with Jesus, learn more about my identity in Him, share my faith boldly with others, and discover how my passions can be used for His purposes.
A specific Scripture prayed over me at the beginning of this year was Psalm 92. It says, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of God.” I have clung to the words “they will flourish” this year. This passage is so special to me because this year has been a year of significant growth. My home church, Downtown Community Church, has played a vital role in that growth. While wrapping up my last semester at Florida State University, I have had the opportunity to intern here, lead a bible study alongside one of my closest friends, and participate in an intensive discipleship study. It has stirred in me a desire to explore pursuing ministry and missions after I graduate this May, and I am so thankful for this next opportunity that will further equip me with the tools and resources to do so. Jesus has been so good and so faithful in leading me here, and I am so excited to learn more about my specific calling, and my passions, and to serve Him through it all.
The first three months of this program is known as the Lecture Phase. During this time, I will be enrolled in courses that will allow me to grow in relationship with Jesus, as world-class speakers will speak on a variety of topics to prepare me and my peers for the ministry we will be doing in the Outreach Phase. During these next three months, we will depart to different countries (to be determined soon) and practice on-the-ground mission work in practical ways, such as kids ministry, sports ministry, cleaning up neighborhoods, assisting the homeless, running Bible studies, street evangelism, teaching English and more! The money I am raising will directly fund my 6-month mission, and I hoping to be fully-funded before I leave July 8, 2019.

While I know that fundraising $9,045 is a large financial milestone for this mission, I am confident in God’s calling to this as well as His provision in it. I rest in knowing that He will bring people into my life who will believe in the call He has placed on my heart and in the pressing mission of sharing the good news of the Gospel.
1 Corinthians 3:7-9 says, “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” I am learning more and more about what it means to be a co-worker of God’s service, to be God’s field and God’s building. It has been such a sweet season of learning these things and allowing God to grow me in them. I am so excited for the work He is going to continue to do in and through me for His Kingdom during my time with YWAM and I can’t wait to share it all with you as I go! Thank you for believing and supporting me in God’s call on my life to go out and learn and serve Him in this new season.
