Dear Family and Friends,
This past year, I moved away from home for the first time to go to college, recently spent 9 days in the hospital fighting for my life after a bacterial infection entered my knee and spread throughout my body, ultimately decided not to go back to college next year, and have since been working and living at home this summer trying to figure out what should be my next move. One thing I know about what is next is that I want to learn and experience God in a deeper and more real way than ever, and try to find out what He wants for my life. I have been talking with my parents, friends, and family members and praying about what to do. My sister, who completed a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) in New Zealand, told me I needed to do a DTS too. She actually applied to a few schools for me without telling me. Eventually, she told me what she’d done and told me that if this is really what God has for me like she thinks it is, then God could take me anywhere. At first, I wasn’t sure, but as I started to investigate, I began to feel a stronger pull towards this experience. There are over 1,000 YWAM DTS’ to choose from. I have always wanted to go to Iceland, and when I eventually said that is a place I’ve always wanted to go, we googled “YWAM Iceland” and sure enough there it was, and something inside of me came alive. I knew this is where I was supposed to go.
If you are not familiar with YWAM, the first three months is considered the Lecture Phase of the DTS and is spent in discipleship training. In Iceland, the first 10 weeks will focus on how to steward our own life, our family, community, society, nation and the world. We will explore the concepts of stewardship through topics like God’s character, nature and purpose, Evangelism, Missions, Prayer and worship and Relationships. There will be teachers from all around the globe, from different cultures, different church backgrounds, different occupations there to work with us. The second three months, the Outreach Phase, is focused on meeting people, witnessing and discipleship through truth, love and kindness. This portion is centered on evangelism and service and will be spent either in South Asia or South America.
I want to join this DTS because my life has been upended in almost every way by my experiences this past year. I want to do this because I want to experience God in a whole new way. I want to grow in my understanding of what God says about being a steward of my life, my family, my community and beyond. I want to serve something that is bigger than my personal desires and become more focused on others. I want to be a part of the amazing work He is doing in Iceland, and become a member of the team He is already using there.
This is where I need your help. I feel like God has laid this incredible opportunity in front of me, but at this time, I cannot afford to seize it without His and your help. This experience will cost close to $11,000, and in His timing, God has given me 2 months to raise it because the school starts October 17. I will be working, but I can't raise that money on my own. I am trusting that He will fulfill His promise and I am humbly here with open hands seeing where His prompting will lead. If you feel like this is something God wants you to be a part of, I am humbly thankful and you can send checks to:

What I really need more than anything else is prayer - that God’s hand will be over this trip and that he prepares me, directs me, and most of all, uses me. I hope and pray that one day I will be able to tell you all about what God does through and in the DTS and service time while I’m in Iceland and on Outreach. Thank you so much for your consideration and for your time, prayer, and support!
