Emily Gonzalez's YWAM Missions Trip
Hello friends and family!
I have a very exciting opportunity to be a part of a five-month experience designed to allow me to grow in my faith and serve God overseas. I've been officially accepted into YWAM Salem's program for the Fall Classic DTS (September 20, 2018 - February 21, 2019), so now it's just about raising the money to make it happen! Let me give you just a small taste of what I'll be doing. You can also check out a short YWAM informational video and see several trip photos below!
The YWAM Salem program is divided into two phases:
In the first phase, the "training phase," I'll undergo extensive training in Oregon at the YWAM Salem home base. As a student, I will attend classes led by professors, missionaries, and Christian leaders whose stories and insights bring not only head knowledge, but life transformation. Topics include: The Father Heart of God, Character and Nature of God, Missions, Evangelism, Biblical Worldview, Spiritual Warfare, Forgiveness, and cultural training for my team's outreach locations.
The second phase, more commonly referred to as the "outreach phase," is even more exciting! For more than two months, mid-December through February, I'll be personally sharing the good news of Jesus Christ overseas with people who have never experienced His love. I'll be immersed in cross-cultural settings, putting into practice all that I've learned.
YWAM has recently sent teams to Greece, India, East Asia, Thailand, Nepal, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and many other countries. While I don't yet know which country I'll be traveling to, the possibilities are endless. Whether working in the slums of Africa or the red-light districts of Bangkok, I'll gain a greater global perspective, even greater passion and faith, and have the first-hand opportunity to join Jesus Christ in the great gospel work He's doing around the world!
I'm asking for two things: one, that you pray for my growth and maturity, my training, my travels, and that God would accomplish great things through my humble service. And two, if you have the means, that you would consider financially supporting this overseas venture. Every little bit counts! No contribution to the work of the Kingdom of God is not enough or too small!
