Yvonne Cherbak Wildfire Recovery Fund

My mother Yvonne Cherbak is faced with a daunting task ahead...to rebuild her life after losing her home, rental income and art studio in the recent Woolsey Fire in the Santa Monica Mountains.

A 71-year-old widow, she retired from her job as a high school fine arts educator a few short months ago, with a reduced income. Her plan was to join the local plein air painting group, launch her own art classes for seniors, finally start traveling the world, and take a breath.

A lifelong commercial illustrator and educator, she worked for more than 40 years for companies like Hanna Barbera, Disney and Hasbro, including a decade focused on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles product design. She was a fine arts teacher at Art Center College of Design, Ventura College, Simi Valley High School and Santa Susana High School.

While fire insurance coverage will assist with long-term housing costs as she works to re-establish and possibly rebuild her home, her immediate need is to re-gain the basics of daily life: clothing, furniture, appliances, a computer, art tools/supplies and other essentials.

I'm entreating friends, colleagues and acquaintances to participate in donating to this campaign. Let's help Yvonne create a new life!
