FAMILY AT RISK OF EVICTION
Donation protected
A family in Israel, who is close to Rav Dror’s heart, is in URGENT need of our help. Shlomit, her husband, and 4 children are working hard to keep themselves afloat - but cannot cover their rent and basic expenses, and are now at risk of losing everything.
Shlomit works as a school secretary and her husband works hard as a handyman. Despite doing all they can themselves and living in a low-rent place, they are at risk of being evicted from their apartment because they are behind on their rent payments.
Their landlord is demanding $10k in 10 days for their back rent and fees. With nowhere to turn, they are very scared about what comes next and so Rav Dror is asking for help on their behalf.
Deuteronomy 15:7-10 teaches us of our societal commitment to helping those in need: "If there is a needy person among you...do not harden your heart and shut your hand against your needy kin. Rather, you must open your hand and lend whatever is sufficient to meet the need."
Helping fellow human beings in need, tzedakah, is not simply a matter of charity, but of responsibility, righteousness, and justice.
Whether someone is experiencing hunger or homelessness, is in need of clothing or medical care, we do not help them because they have met a certain standard of worthiness in our eyes. We help them because no one deserves to be hungry or homeless.
May we come together to help keep this good family in their home and away from falling into despair.
