Remembering Yvette Moreno

To Friends, Family, and ones of who’s hearts read this, and want to reach out,

Our dear family member Yvette Moreno, suddenly passed away in the early hours of March 23,2017. She was just 29 years old. She had been battling the effects of Crohn’s disease since she was 9. She had finished dinner the other night, showered and went to bed, when suddenly her roommate (an RN and sister), was awakened by paramedics who had been called to the house, as we learned, by Yvette. When they went to our sweet Yvette, it was too late. She had passed away, from what we now know was a massive cardio-pulmonary episode resulting from the complications of the disease.

(please see her mother’s words below, to fully understand her incredible struggle).

Death is so unnatural and for anyone to have to write word’s such as these, my heart truly goes out to them. A mother lost her daughter, sisters lost their baby sister, auntie’s, and uncles, lost their sweet, happy niece. Grandparents, cousins, and many dear friends are lost to this beautiful young lady.

Because this was so sudden, and unexpected, as she had been feeling much better as of recent, we all were completely unprepared. The costs associated with this horrific event, are mounting substantially. Because of this, we are reaching out to everyone to help the family take care of their own without having to worry about the financial burdens of such. We have tallied the costs and are trying to reach our goal of raising $10,000.00, so Gina can take care of all her baby girl’s needs.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and if you do feel so inclined, please donate. Yvette was such a sweet, beautiful child who grew to one of the strongest spirited, and loving women I know. She did not deserve the life she had struggled so hard to live, yet she fought for her life with such poise, grace, and beauty. Hold your loved ones tight today, and every day, for the circumstances of life can change so quickly….

It was Yvette's wish to donate of her physical self, so others could benefit. In response to this, we need to care of her now and any monies raised beyond her needs will be donated to finding a cure for the devastating disease that is Chrons.

Mother’s words….

It is with deepest sadness that I have to tell everyone that my youngest daughter, Yvette Moreno, passed away in early morning on 3/23/17.

She was struggling from the devastating effects of severe Crohn's disease, since age 9.

The disease got progressively worse - it spread from rectum & large intestines, to small intestines, including duodenum, and also her esophagus. She had undergone 3 major abdominal surgeries, since age 17, and at least 6 hospitalizations during the past 18 months - due to infection/sepsis stemming from an abdominal fistula (opening from inside her abdomen, to the exterior of her body, which drained almost constantly from stomach/intestines) since Aug 2013.

Her strength to endure has amazed me.

Despite these problems and battling with depression, she was determined to live a "normal" life. She entered college 4 yrs ago - but not able to complete her major (health information management) due to her health. She was interested in the health field since she'd worked as a medical receptionist for a cardiology practice in 2012-2103.

In 2015, she moved back to TN to be closer to her sisters and I. She refused to apply for disability sooner because she felt it would be "giving up" and letting this disease control her.  But eventually she had to - despite the shame she felt. But we are grateful she was able to get some help and that there are/were services available to people in dire need like she was.

The disease and treatment for it took a huge toll on her body - other major organs were affected - kidneys, bone, etc., by the drugs needed to keep the inflammation under check in her Crohn's disease. She was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis (29 yrs. old), and was retaining a large amount of fluid in her body.

She succumbed to this awful disease on 3/23/17, from cardio-respiratory related problems. It was very sudden - we didn't have any idea that she would pass away suddenly.  She was in good spirits for several days prior to this and looked and sounded like she felt better than she had in several months. She had made plans to spend time at my house this weekend.
