Yvette Garza Thyroid Cancer Warrior

Yvette Garza (Teacher Sparkles), wife of Homero Garza. Parents of  2 beautiful girls, ages 10 and 2.  My friend was diagnosed with Stage 2 Papillary Thyroid Cancer on December 16, 2019. On February 3, 2020 she had a complete Thyroidectomy in San Antonio to remove all of her thyroid due to the cancerous tumors. After surgery her oncologist told her that he had to also had to do a central node dissection and parathyroidectomy to implant parathyroid into her neck muscle because cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.

Then in April 21st-23rd she was quarantined at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio for Radiation. She had to spend a week away from everyone even after she arrived home, especially her babies to make sure her radiation levels wouldn't affect anyone.  If you know her she loves hugs and this was so hard on her.  


On top of her cancer diagnosis, she is anemic, has asthma and is headed to San Antonio to see a specialist because they found nasal polyps and will be needing surgery for that as well.

She has to get lab work every few weeks and each time her results shows her levels real high. Her endocrinologist, oncologist, and general Drs have been working together to come up with yet another treatment plan.

Sadly, she got a call from her oncologist last week that due to her  levels coming out super high, it was not only an indication that the cancer was still there but that it may have spread.

So, once again, she will be headed to San Antonio for tests of her neck to see if cancer has spread. If it has then the Dr said she will need surgery or surgeries to remove cancer again. Then she will have radiation again. This is an extremely overwhelming and hard time for the entire family. They have a strong faith and God remains at their center.
