Yvette Bates Medical Journey

Hi everyone,

 

We are setting this fundraiser up in the hopes of helping Yvette Bates and her family through this time. Yvette is an amazing mother, wife, and daughter, who has been close to my heart for a very long time now. She is currently without healthcare due to a change in her career, and has unfortunately fallen ill.

 

On Friday she presented with chest pains, went to the emergency room, and was flown to Cleveland Clinic in Ohio to have emergency open heart surgery.

 

She had an aortic dissection that extended from her the top of the aorta to her abdomen. She had an emergency surgery where they repaired the tear in her aorta by placing a stent. During post-op testing, the care team had difficulties finding a pulse in her groin, so they needed to do a second procedure to repair her thoracic aorta, where they added another stent. Sunday morning, she needed to have a third procedure done to remove fluid from her spine, which they anticipated could be completed at bedside. Unfortunately, the surgeons were unable to completely remove the excess fluid, and they had to perform a lumber puncture using an ultrasound.

 

Yvette is still currently at the Cardiac Critical Care Unit with her family to be monitored. At this time, we ask that you can help in any way possible. Yvette is the main source of income for the household, and it is unsure at this time when she will be able to return to work. Her family members will be working around the clock to care for her. This will help cover the cost of her medical bills, travel, lodging and food for the family members as well.
