Close the gap - 8th Grade Washington, DC Trip

Help us close the gap and send our 8th graders to Washington, DC. The fall 2022 will see the first class of 4th grade students from 2018 start their 8th grade year, making them the first class to complete five years at Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy. We are working hard to send 70 students to Washington, DC. To date we’ve raised $100,541, we need to raise an additional $24,259 by October 15th in order for our students to take this trip. Our goal is to raise a total of $125,000 so that every 8th grader who has signed up, is able to attend the trip at no cost.

With a year and half of social distancing measures and COVID-19 protocol in place, followed by another 8 months of a school without parent volunteers (due to COVID-19 safety precautions), the incoming 8th grade class has been through a lot. And they have come out stronger and more capable, displaying resilience and fortitude while maintaining high grades and staying committed to their educational endeavors.

We are starting a tradition that we hope will last for years to come. All donations are 100% tax-deductible and will go directly to helping a student to attend the field trip.
