Hi, this fundraiser is to help me continue fighting colon cancer. After months of seeing specialists, being seen at the ER, having tests, & procedures, Doctors were not finding the source of a pressure I continued having on the left side of my abdomen. I was told at the ER 8 months ago that it was probably just stress. I knew something was wrong, so I insisted and I pushed until I saw a gastroenterologist who found that I have cancer. All the countless tests and specialists’ visits had already put a financial strain on my already one-income household.
I had to undergo urgent surgery to remove the tumors in my large intestine. Now, as I heal I am facing a difficult decision, do I proceed with my chemo treatment as planned with the risk of not being able to sustain financially, for the chance of living longer and beating cancer? or.. do I postpone my chemo treatment for a few months and go back to work until I can recover from the financial hit, knowing the cancer may come back or spread?
To most people that’s a simple question, a no-brainer, but when you rely on one income and you have already exhausted your resources and have to face the battle of doubts: how am I going to pay for my rent? how am I going to pay for my basics? how an I going to pay for my portion of a chemo treatment despite insurance? would I be able to survive the stress of a weaker body facing such financial struggle? how bad do I want to live?
Anyone who’s ever faced a medical emergency can understand these are not so simple questions.. even with medical insurance and disability payments, facing these expenses is very difficult, when you don't have any other income to rely on.
My chemo is scheduled to begin Monday 7/19/21, I need to urgently raise funds that can keep my head above the water so I can fight, so I can thrive and beat cancer while I can.
Hugs,
Yuyis
