Medical Expenses for Mark

Hi family & friends,

My dad would be so mad if he found out I'm doing this because he doesn't like to burden people with his issues. However, I'm doing this anyways and asking that those who know my dad pull together to support him.

As some of you may know, my dad was recently diagnosed with cancer after a medical test found a lump at the back of his throat (I believe on the back of his tongue). He has had a few trips down to Vancouver and was told that his cancer is stage 2 and very treatable with radiation therapy (phew! Great news to hear!).

He will be starting treatments in April and plans to stay at the Canadian Cancer Society Lodge and/or the Easter Seals House. I believe he will need 7 weeks of radiation, Monday to Friday.

The CCS Lodge is $52 per bed per night. The Easter Seals House is about $70 to $80 a night. Both these stays include meals. Many of you know my step-mom Leanne. Leanne is self-employed so she will be needing to take time off work to stay with my dad. So she, too, will have to pay to stay with my dad. While my dad is doing treatments, both of them will lose wages.

While my dad's travel to Vancouver will be covered by TAP forms, he will still need to pay out of pocket for his stays, as well as for mileage.

I'm hoping to surprise him and my step-mom with this funding from close friends, family, and community members.

So my ask is: find it within yourself to donate for a night's stay for my dad and Leanne.

Any little bit helps. Many of you know my dad and know that he goes above and beyond for those in our community. He has 8 beautiful grandchildren who want to spend more time with him, and your donation will help with this. We just don't want him in debt for needing these necessary treatments.
