Yuria’s Ruptured Ectopic Pregnancy (Emergency Surgery Bills)

I’ve started my absolute dream of living in a van in New Zealand this December. Took all my savings and left Canada finally with so much excitement for this adventure I’ve dreamed of for so long.

Couple weeks ago, I visited hospital to get checked up on my prolonged menstrual cycle, heavy bleeding and cramps. I thought my hormone balance is a bit disturbed by traveling.

The nurse came back with a positive result for the pregnancy, and mentioned it might be a miscarriage that needs a medical attention. I stayed in the hospital that day for 10h feeling panicked and scared.

Next day I was sent to few different clinics to do the ultrasound as “an emergency patient”. The Radiologist has told me that what I have is a Ruptured Ectopic Pregnancy with IUD complications.

The pregnancy was taken in a place at the right side of my tube instead of at my uterus. It was growing so much that it raptured my tube, which was the cause of heavy bleeding and pain. It needed emergency surgery, and I was told that this is “life-threatening”.

Everything was happening so fast, and I was shuffled around clinics and units for 48h feeling absolutely terrified. I didn’t even have a time to wrap my head around what is actually going on. When I caught myself in a midst of this storm, I was crying in a room with two IV lines from both of my arms, in the surgery clothings and the 5 doctors and nurses telling me “the surgery starts at 5pm, we’ll take really good care of you”.

Surgery of removing my ruptured right tube was successful, and I started my slow recovery process. Movement hurts, the thoughts that flow through my head hurts more and my eyes just keep going on the bloody scars on my stomach.

It’s been depressing, to be completely honest. and I am now with bills from 4 different hospitals and clinics that added up to NZ$11,440.

I understand the reality of this world, and we are all trying so hard to meet the ends to live another day. I don't expect to raise the whole amount to cover my entire bills. But, if you just happen to have few dollars to spare this month, it'd be the very best birthday gift for me.
