Hi friends. I hate having to write this but it is what it is. February 21 and 22 were the best days of this year's snowboarding season for me. I was sore and tired but kept going. On the 22nd I felt dizzy and sick so upon my friend's insistence we took me in an ambulance to the hospital. The CT scan was fine so we assumed it was a concussion and I went home. I rested a lot the next days and started to feel better. I left Myoko on Sunday feeling pretty good, able to drive. I took the train to meet a friend in Kanazawa. Even though I wasn't 100% we could go for meals. The next evening we went to Shizuoka and I wasn't feeling great. The next day I felt unwell and in the evening CT scan was fine again but clearly something was wrong so they took an MRI and found I had had two strokes. Long story short I'm hospitalized in Shizuoka for the time being. I have extremely limited mobility in my left side and can't walk. My speech is slurred. The strokes were in the pontine and cerebellum so those functions have been affected but luckily I can use my right side, type with one hand, chew, swallow, and digest. The prognosis will become clearer in the next week but I'm young and healthy so there is high hope for a good recovery. Rehab will take months but I intend to give it my best shot. I'm lucky to be covered under the Japanese health insurance scheme but lIl probably be unable to work for a while so if anyone has anything they'd be willing and able to spare I would be eternally grateful. No amount is too small. If money's not possible, no problem, please keep me in thoughts and prayers as it really makes a difference.
