I’m creating this just because every little bit helps and I want my brother and sister in law to be able to stay home and take care of my niece without having to worry about work and bills piling up. Thursday evening, my niece Tristyn was at friends house and was accidentally shot in the upper chest by a friend. She was life lighted to the University in Columbia where she sat in excruciating pain for almost 24hr waiting on surgery to remove the bullet. After surgery they determined the location of the bullet was too risky to be removed and the safest rout would be to leave it alone at this time. The bullet fractured her collar bone and a tiny fragment hit the top of her lungs. They are monitoring her closely. She is in a lot of pain but she is a soldier and doing well. She has a very load road to recovery ahead of her and she is going to need either her mom or dad by her side the entire time which will be hard financially. She wants everyone to know that what happened was careless, but was a complete accident. Although I know everyone is going to have questions about the legal aspect and who was at fault and what is being done, but at this time we are letting the parents and police department handle that. We are just EXTREMELY grateful that Tristyn is alive. It was one of the scariest moments of my family’s entire life, but we always come together during times like this. Financially though, it’s going to be really hard. I have never done anything like this or asked anyone for help but I figured I’ve seen go funds me for crazier things. Both my brother and sister in law work 50+ hours a week to make ends meet so having to take weeks off work is terrifying for them.. They have 2 other daughters they have to care for as well. If you can help at all, we would appreciate it more than you all know. We love you all and appreciate everyone checking up on her and praying for her and our family. You never think it will happen to you or one of your own till it does. Hold your loved ones tight and PLEASE teach ur kids hun safety and they they are not toys and to NEVER point one at another human being. Love you all.
