In December 2018 our friend, Ninette was diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome Positive B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Ninette is a wife and a mother of 4 children. She had to quit her job and immediately begin undergoing numerous tests and procedures. Ninette has been hospitalized too many times to count, undergoing rounds of chemo and radiation, more tests and procedures and emergency stays. Besides the hospitalizations, Ninette and Ted have made many day trips back and forth to the hospital. This has taken a financial toll on the family. Doctor, hospital and medical expenses are mounting.
Ninette has been approved for a bone marrow transplant at the end of this month (her brother is her donor) but this will require a lengthy hospital stay along with isolation from her children for 100 days. When she returns home from the hospital, she will be staying with her mother who has been the “babysitter”, “grandma”, “support system”, “meal maker” and whatever else is needed person. However, with Ninette staying with her mom, the children will require daycare or camp over the summer as Ted continues to work.
Donations will help the family of 6 cover mounting medical costs along with daycare over the summer. We have decided to create this fundraiser to help ease the financial stress on the family. We want Ninette to focus on getting physically healthy again. Her positive attitude and sense of humor has amazed everyone.
