About me
My name is Yuliya Filippovska, and I live in Kyiv, Ukraine. I am a Process Work Diplomate and Director of the Deep Democracy Institute (DDI) in Ukraine, a global leadership think-tank specializing in conflict facilitation. For more than 12 years I work with individuals and groups to resolve conflicts and tensions, and work on personal, community and organizational development in Eastern Europe and the world.
On a personal side I have a partner and a son of 2,5 year old who are supporting me to pursue my dreams despite many cultural, social and financial challenges.

My research area
In my PhD research I would like to reconsider the concept of news and look at false news, misinformation, and propaganda as forces not to fight against, but to use as parallel reality — to facilitate public dialogue, relationships (including tensions), and collaboration between different stakeholders on a country as well as global levels. In simple terms, I would like to study how we/people could navigate highly complex and polarized information field of the 21st century, make sense of it and, moreover, manage to lead our lives, families, organizations and nations, as well as collaborate with each other in the face of many challenges.
My bigger vision
Thanks to learning and practicing in the Deep Democracy Institute, I see that the facilitation of public dialogue, including polarised views and sometimes mutually exclusive interests within a given information, cultural and historical context, is the way to make wars obsolete and collaborate across differences to find integrative solutions for the better common future. Also, I see how today in the world there is lack of facilitation of diverse interests, tensions and conflicts, and that Ukraine could become one in Eastern European region and potentially in the world. In the future, I see myself and my colleagues in DDI facilitating public dialogues (or public awareness) within my country as well as between different countries to suggest alternative to violent conflicts ways to solve local and global issues.
Thank you for supporting my vision, research, and PhD education!
I would like to thank you for supporting my vision about the future of Ukraine and our world, as well as my PhD education during January - July, 2021. That would allow me to go for my social action research on facilitating public dialogue soon that would include some creative art forms such as animation series and art-exhibition.
Thank you for supporting my vision in any way!
Kindly,
Yuliya Filippovska
