Yukon Expedition 2021 Fundraising

Hi, my name is Ellie.
 
I consider myself a very optimistic and resilient person who, although loves the comforts of her home, is embarking on a once in a lifetime expedition to the Canadian Yukon for the summer of 2021 with the British Exploring Society. What better way to test my resilience than spending 3 weeks in the wilderness of boreal forests, high mountain passes and beautiful lakes (where I’ll also be washing- can’t wait for the plunge into the cold water!). Who knows, I might even see a bear or moose along the way! The physical and mental challenges on this expedition will be greatest I’ve ever had to experience (having to dig my own toilet is not something I’m looking forward to), but the benefits will be far more rewarding. Not only will I be immersing myself fully into a stunning environment, but I will be doing so with people who all share that same passion for adventure. The preservation of our beautiful planet is something that I’m very concerned about and with the impacts of climate change a lingering threat, I hope that by going on this expedition I will understand why we need to protect it so that in the future, I might be able to find solutions to how we can sustainably preserve it.


 
Before my expedition this summer, my dad and I will be attempting to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in under 12 hours… in pink tutus. Yes… pink tutus. The three mountains are: Pen-y-gent, Ingleborough and Whernside. This is no easy hike so I’m excited for the challenge. By donating your money, you are challenging me to do this. Do you think I’ve got what it takes?
 
The money raised will be given directly to the British Exploring Society, an amazing youth development charity “founded on the belief that challenging experiences can transform lives, empowering and equipping young people with the courage, skills, resilience and determination to make the most of their future”. No matter how much you give, know that it will be helping the futures of many young people, not just myself
