Yuki Needs Urgent Surgery

Hi everyone, this is Yuki.

She's a 12-year-old husky. Yuki has been my best friend for the last 12 years. I've had her since she was a puppy, and she's helped me through so many things in my life and has been there for me every step of the way. If you've ever met Yuki, you know she's the sweetest dog you've ever met. She's loving and so full of personality. She lights up the room she's in and loves every person she meets and still has a lot of life left to live, and I want to give her the best chance possible.

Yuki has had a pretty rough year. She was diagnosed with diabetes last February, and we've struggled to get it under control. The vet that diagnosed her opted to continue increasing her insulin dose, which led to her going into hypoglycemic shock and an emergency vet visit to make sure she survived. I swapped to a different vet after that, understandably, and the new vet has been great but has still struggled to help her diabetes stay regulated. She also started forming a large mass on her side, and after it started causing her pain and discomfort, I opted to make that the priority and get it removed before we continued going back and forth on her insulin doses, so she'd be as stable as possible for the surgery.

After the mass removal, we got her in for an ultrasound to make sure nothing was left behind and instead found a new tumor on her right adrenal gland. This tumor is the most likely cause for her unregulated diabetes, causing her to have insulin resistance and rapid weight loss.

The surgery is extremely expensive, and after spending thousands on her care over this past year already, I'm asking for help. The veterinary team estimated between $9,000-$12,300 for her surgery and post-op care, not including any follow-up visits she'll need. They assured me that this is the best path for Yuki and her care and are confident that with the removal of this tumor, her diabetes will be easily controlled.
