Hi everyone!

My name is Micaella Torres, I’m an international student at Gettysburg College in the class of 2027 planning to be an Economics Major with a minor in Data Science. This is my first year in college and my first time this far away from home.

As many people know Ecuador is in a state of war where many are struggling to make ends meet, among them my parents. Before coming to Gettysburg my parents worked hard to try and get some of the money beforehand so they could pay for my education. But during this time a lot has happened starting with my dad losing his job and not being able to get another one, my mom is an elementary teacher so she doesn't get paid enough to keep things back home safe and to pay for my education.

I've been trying to get a job here but it hasn't been possible because I have an F-1 Student visa and this comes with a lot of limitations as well. I have been doing my best to keep all my expenses covered with the help of the college but my budget has been exceeded and this is my last resource to try and stay in the college. I want to be able to pursue that higher education I always dreamed about. This is why I'm opting for this option so I can continue my dream and help my parents with the economic situation at home.

Based on the school calculations, my current situation for the rest of my academic years would be as follows:

-Current remaining balance Spring Semester Freshman year: $5,284

My Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year would be the same prices

-Fall Semester: $14,435

-Spring Semester: $10,955

That's why I'm asking for $56,064 in total to urgently pay my current semester ($5,284) and hopefully cover as much as possible for my following 2 years (sophomore and junior) of college while the situation in my country and myself can get resolved.
