Good Day "Sunshine" Fund

Donation protected
UPDATE
Donations to The Sunshine Fund have leveled off and most of her major medical expenses have been covered thanks to your caring and generosity. Castle West Animal Hospital has been extremely conscientious about providing her with the best care possible while keeping costs down and have done a fabulous job of both! As a result, Sunshine was able to share some of her donations with other pets in urgent immediate need of funds in the last few weeks.

We will keep The Sunshine Fund ongoing to help other street dogs (and the occasional cat) in need to honor all of you who came to Sunshine's aid when she needed you the most. We will post updates of the pets that are assisted through your generosity. Major cases like Sunshine's will most likely have their own fundraising campaigns, but The Sunshine Fund can help provide a base of funds to allow us to get immediate treatment started for many pets without having to raise the funds first.

Sunshine and every pet that is eventually helped through your donations thank you from the bottom of their hearts for giving them the opportunity to live a full, fear-free, disease-free and injury-free life!

Pause for Paws is committed to helping street dogs in need whenever possible and YOU make it possible! Thank you!

**************************
This dog, now known as Miss Caron Sunshine (aka Sunshine), was spotted under an abandoned house on the south side of San Antonio by a Good Samaritan who was shocked by her wasted condition and the open sores all over her body.  The Good Samaritan called Pause for Paws who contacted SOS-SATX, a group of rescue volunteers, for assistance.  Volunteers searched the area in an effort to locate the dog.  By chance, one of the volunteers was at Animal Care Services (ACS) and recognized her!  Sunshine had been picked up by ACS who has released her to Pause for Paws.  She is currently receiving treatment at Castle West Animal Hospital.

Sunshine has obviously suffered greatly on the streets of San Antonio.  In spite of her weakened state, she has demonstrated a tremendous will to survive and live! During her initial evaluation, a blood transfusion was ordered and she may need several more in the next few days.  Sunshine has a long road to recovery.  She is expected to remain at Castle West for at least a month before she can go to a foster home.

Miss Caron Sunshine’s medical care and rehab is expected to be close to $5,000.  Tax-deductible donations to help with Sunshine’s medical care may be made to this fund (no amount is too small).  Or you may donate directly to our vet clinic at Castle West Animal Hospital, 11105 West Avenue, San Antonio, TX  78213 under the account Pause for Paws.  Any funds raised that are not needed for Sunshine will be used to help other sick and injured street dogs.  Thank you!

We will keep supporters updated with photos of Sunshine’s progress and recovery.
