Vanishing Point

Hello everyone!

My name is Ryan Bode and I am incredibly excited to announce that pre-production has begun on my senior thesis short film, Vanishing Point.

I am a writer, director, and editor from Fort Collins, Colorado. Through a mix of live-action and animation, my work explores social problems and philosophical conflicts utilizing dramatic narrative. Currently, I'm pursuing a B.F.A. degree in Film and Media Arts at Syracuse University, with a minor in Animation. My previous films “Final Cut” and “Format” have been selected for numerous festivals and were featured on the streaming service Mometu.

About the Story

Surrounded by his frantic family trying to prepare for the day, 14-year-old Lux desperately searches for the marker he needs to finish his artwork…when his body begins to vanish.

Vanishing Point is a story close to my heart. It seeks to capture the frustration of feeling unseen, the struggle to communicate your feelings, and the healing power of a cat on your lap. Combining traditional filmmaking with experimental animation and challenging VFX, this project is the culmination of everything I have learned here at Syracuse University.
