Help Luis Get Back on His Feet
Donation protected
As you may have heard, this past May, Luis was shot in the head by his neighbor who had a mental breakdown. In the same incident, his boyfriend was killed and his sister was also assaulted. Luis was in the hospital for several weeks and spent the summer recovering.
Luis is doing much better now health-wise, but it’s been a rough year and he’s now struggling to keep up with his bills. We’re hoping you can help us get Luis back on his feet so he can pay his bills and build up a college savings fund while he is dealing with the aftermath of this incident. This Go-Fund-Me will cover Luis’s rent and bills for the next few months, pay for a Lyft account so he has transportation to his future job, and will also cover tuition for three classes when he returns to college.
Before the incident, Luis had a great job with Anchorage Parks and Recreation as a Gardener and was saving up for college, but he had to leave his job for most of the summer to focus on his recovery.
He went back to work at the end of the summer, but health complications from his injury made it so he can no longer do this job. He is currently looking for a new job, but it is hard to find a good fit with COVID and his health limitations.
He qualifies for some state assistance for housing and bills, but it will be a couple of months until that kicks in.
He wants to go back to school this year and needs funds for his first few classes until he can get a job and start saving again.
Please help us raise this money by Dec. 31, so Luis doesn't have to stress out about paying his January rent.
Thank you so much to all of our family and friends for surrounding us with love and support during this difficult year!
