Medical expenses

On Thursday, November 29, 2018 Andy went to work like any other day. The only difference was he had a searing headache that progressively got worse. It finally got so bad he couldn’t stand it. His wife, LeeAnn, and co-workers convinced him to go into the ER at Methodist (due to his complex medical history & the fact that he was chronicly taking Coumadin). He went to leave and his co-workers noticed him bumping into things and told him they would drive him (he was originally going to go home before they all convinced him). He would later find out that the insistence of this union of people to seek medical care ended up saving his life.
Upon getting to Methodist the staff did imaging to determine whether it was a stroke or an aneurysm. Once it was determined to be a stroke, Andy, LeeAnn & the staff made the decision for Andy to transfer to Regions Hospital. Regions is a comprehensive stroke center where he could receive the best care available to him. He spent 5days in the neuro ICU & is now in a step down unit waiting for his blood pressure to stabilize before he can begin his intense rehabilitation towards getting back home. In spite of how big of a bleed & shift he had, his neurological status is remarkable. His kind heart, quick wit and humor have always been his forte. The staff at Regions have been enjoying his spunky personality. He is bound and determined to get as much of his strength back to return to the everyday things he loves most (his family, friends, camper & fishing). He is one of the most caring people we know.

Due to him being out of work for the unforeseen future (only time & hard work in rehab will tell), we don’t want his family to suffer the burden of impending medical costs & LeeAnn having to manage all of the medical expenses solo. They would NEVER ask us to do this and would be upset for even the thought. But as much as they have helped & supported others we feel it is our opportunity to lift them up now when they need it most.

We are just hoping to offset some of their daily housing expenses due to the added medical bills, parking expenses, insurance costs, etc. Share with whoever you believe would be interested in helping them out! Any amount would help. Thanks for reading his story. We have faith that his kind heart, good nature, humor, strength and hard work in rehab will return him to us as strong as possible. We miss him and struggle with seeing him hurting & having him in the hospital.
