Hello everyone;
You are receiving this message because I think you know me well enough to know I don't like asking for help. I hope you don't think less of me for asking. I know there are so many other people in need, and I absolutely respect your choice to donate elsewhere. My ex-husband is suing me for custody of Devon and Jackson, and I could use some help.
My ex and his family currently live in Texas, and they are planning to move in two years. This means the children would change schools at least twice in the near future. I truly believe that it is in Devon's and Jackson's best interest to stay where they are already rooted in programs such as music, dance, scouts, and karate. If they move to Texas with their dad, they will be about 1400 miles away from me, their friends, and many members of our extended family. We likely won't be able to afford to see them on a regular basis.
I have already paid an attorney's required retainer for a conciliatory conference. The minimum upcoming cost for formal mediation and trial will be $7500, which is due by July 24, 2020. My attorney is also recommending a third party psychologist to complete a custody evaluation, which would cost several thousand beyond the trial fees. While I think this evaluation would be helpful, I just want to be able to fight for what I think is best for Devon and Jackson.
