My name is Dan Mitchell, I am a free-lance photographer and owner of Mitchell Multimedia LLC from Columbus, OH. Here is my story:
A picture is worth a thousand words. This is a phrase that has been kicked around many times before. Is there something more that meets the eye?
Every picture has the potential to connect people, allows different perspectives or ideas to be seen and shared, and builds lasting friendships and professional relationships.
During the last three years I have documented the growing local music scene in Columbus by taking pictures of musicians and bands at weekly open mics, monthly showcases, concerts, and community music & arts festivals throughout the year.
Recently I have gone out of my comfort zone to cover more corporate events. I have shot for Columbus Car Trader, Pay-ex, Mt Carmel-New Albany, Ohio Sugrgical Techs, and The Ohio State University Don Scott Airport.
I am currently volunteering for local music organizations. I volunteer as a photographer and social media coordinator for numerous songwriter organizations that includes: Columbus Songwriters Association, Columbus chapter of Nashville Songwriters Association International, WOSU-TV series "Songs at the Center," and Songwriter Showcase at Natalie's Coal Fired Pizza.
Not only am I taking pictures of talented people, but I am also connecting people on a personal level, helping to build professional relationships, and introduce musicians to one another.
Beyond volunteering my time for the local music scene, I photograph for local charity events which include Caring A Tune, Cash ONLY, and Pelotolooza.
My overall goal is to raise money for an equipment upgrade that will allow me to expand my photo coverage of a diverse pool of music genres that make up the local music scene in Columbus and to support and promote local businesses.
I am very close to my goal of $5000. One Last push!!
