Hi everyone,
I never imagined I would be writing something like this, but our small family was recently faced with a sudden and terrifying medical emergency involving our French bulldog, Dakota. After a few days of worrying symptoms including abdominal bloating, lethargy, and visible discomfort, we rushed him to the emergency vet. Imaging revealed that his spleen was severely enlarged, a life-threatening condition that could rupture at any moment and cause fatal internal bleeding. There was no time to wait. Dakota had to undergo emergency surgery immediately. The surgery has since been completed, and we are incredibly grateful to say that he is recovering well. He is showing strength, resilience, and his sweet personality is slowly coming back to us. We are now in the difficult waiting period, hoping and praying for good news as we await the biopsy results to determine whether the mass was cancerous. While we are relieved he made it through surgery, the financial impact has been overwhelming. Between emergency diagnostics, surgery, hospitalization, pathology, and upcoming follow-up care, the total cost has reached over $11,000 This all happened without warning, and despite doing everything we can, we still need help covering these expenses. Dakota is not just a pet. He is family. He is gentle, loving, and deeply bonded to our home and our other dogs. Watching him go through this has been heartbreaking, but our focus remains on giving him the best chance at a healthy future.
Any donation, no matter the amount, or even simply sharing this fundraiser, would mean more to us than words can express. Your kindness and support are helping us get through one of the hardest moments we have faced. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, for supporting us, and for keeping Dakota in your thoughts and prayers.
