Hi, my name is Erica, and I’m a proud mom of my sweet 15-month-old warrior, Elijah.
My son was born with Down Syndrome and at just over a year old, Elijah has been diagnosed with epilepsy; a condition that causes unpredictable and sometimes life-threatening seizures. Our days are filled with multiple medications, doctors’ appointments, and moments of fear — not knowing when the next seizure will strike or how severe it might be.
Watching your baby go through seizures is one of the hardest things any parent can experience. We want to do everything possible to protect Elijah, and that’s why we’re reaching out today.
We’ve found out that a seizure alert service dog could be life-changing for my son.
These incredible dogs are specially trained to:
• Detect oncoming seizures before they happen
• Alert parent or caregivers so we can respond immediately
• Provide comfort and safety during and after a seizure
• Help reduce the overall frequency and intensity of seizures through emotional regulation
But these dogs come at a very high cost — often between $15,000 and $35,000, depending on the training program and time involved. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the cost, and this is on top of the ongoing medical expenses we’re already facing.
We are humbly asking for your help to give Elijah a fighting chance at a safer, more stable life.
How You Can Help:
Our goal is to raise $35,000 to cover the cost of a seizure alert service dog, training, travel, and related expenses.
Any donation — no matter the size — brings us one step closer to giving Elijah the protection he desperately needs.
If you’re unable to donate, please share this campaign to help us spread the word.
Your support could truly save my baby’s life. Thank you for standing with us on this journey.
With all my love and gratitude,
Erica Wilkins
