Help Save Dallas
Hi, my name is Mandy and I am fundraising on behalf of a good friend of mine, Deb Raeburn.
Deb's beloved dog, Dallas, is unfortunately very sick and requires ongoing urgent medical attention. Dallas is a Dalmatian and is just over 3 years old.
Four days ago Dallas became gravely ill. Deb took Dallas to her vets who treated Dallas initially for a bacterial gut infection but when Dallas didn't show signs of improvement they then gave Dallas a barium swallow (a barium swallow is an opaque liquid which is feed to the dog by way of tube to the stomach and will ascertain if the dog has a blockage).
The following day Dallas was still unwell. The vets subsequently took x-rays which showed that the barium swallow was still sitting in his stomach (the barium should normally pass through the dog's stomach if no obstruction). Dallas was then referred to Animal Emergency Services who did an endoscopy and took further x-rays and ascertained that some of the barium swallow had now been aspirated into his lungs. Dallas was then diagnosed with mild Aspiration Pneumonia. Dallas stayed overnight at Animal Emergency Services and the following day he was released back to Deb's vet for further monitoring.
Dallas has progressively gotten worse and was again referred back to Animal Emergency Services. By this stage Dallas' Pneumonia was a lot worse and Deb was advised that he had lost 1/3rd of his lung capacity. Dallas is currently in the care of Animal Emergency Services.
As you can imagine, the costs of the constant visits and treatments to both her vets and to Animal Emergency Services have cost Deb a lot of money. To date, Deb has already paid over $5,000 for Dallas' treatment and this does not include Dallas' current stay at Animal Emergency Services.
Deb is on a career's pension, looking after her 97 year old mother and she now does not have sufficient funds for Dallas' ongoing treatment, which is expected to be in the vicinity of $5,000.00.
We are looking for donations towards Dallas' ongoing medical expenses in the hopes that Dallas can continue treatment, get better and get back home to Deb where he belongs. Dallas is Deb's only living dog and he means the absolute world to her.
Thank you
Mandy
