Support Chester's Road to Recovery

Hi! Thank you for taking a look into Chester's story :)

My name is Lierin, and I am Chester's aunt (aka Lyndsey's friend). Many moons ago, Lyndsey and I were roommates and navigating life together. One day, she sent me a text telling me that she heard a meowing coming from a car in a parking garage. She realized that a cat was stuck in the engine and worked to free it. Finally, she was able to free it and took this tiny frightened kitten to get checked out. She sent me a picture of her holding him and giving me play by plays of what was happening, and trying to figure out a name.

That is when I knew that this little kitty was coming home with her and we were gaining another roommate.

She decided to name him Chester, because he had a C on his back, and LOVED to lay on our chest while making biscuits and purring up a storm. To know Chester is to love him. He is truly the most lovable and gentle cat. He has been with Lyndsey through so many life challenges, but also for her biggest blessing, the birth of her son. Her son and Chester share a special bond that is a privilege to watch.

A month ago, Chester got really sick so Lyndsey did what any pet owner would do and brought him to the vet. Since then, it has been nothing but bad news, with multiple tests, scans, shots, fluid packs, vet visits, and so many tears. She was informed that he had an infection and that the antibiotics he was put on were not working. An abscess formed, which caused the infection to spread to his kidney area. The infection caused his skin to start dying which can lead to him not being able to use the bathroom. If this were to happen, he would go into septic shock which there would be no choice other than to put him to sleep. As the infection was not responding to the two strong antibiotics they had him on, they sent a sample off for testing. The vet thought that the abscess was cancer so they sent it off for testing. Today, 7/24, she was told that the abscess is NOT cancer!!!! The first piece of good news in a month. Now, the up hill battle starts to get Chester on the road to recovery. He is having surgery on 7/25, to remove the anal gland that caused the issue to begin with. He will need to stay at the vet for a week and a half afterwards to be monitored. Then, they will reconvene on next steps and what the next surgery/intervention will look like. The Doctor feels that Chester has so much more life to live and that the next surgeries will be successful.

If you know Lyndsey, then you know how private of a person she is and that her animals mean everything to her. She would never seek financial help herself as to not put that on her friends/family, so I decided to create this for her. Chester holds a very special place in my heart. I claim him as my (fat) cat and show him off often because he is just a precious kitty. We want to show Lyndsey that we all love her (and Chester obviously) and want Chester to have the best possible life.

Thank you for reading his story!!
