If you know Owen, you know he has always been a happy, energetic, sweet, and smart kid. He was active, doing karate and soccer, did great in school, and overall, an awesome kid. Unfortunately, Owen has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called PANS which is a form of Basal Ganglia Ecephalitis. It causes inflammation in the brain due to an autoimmune response to a number of infections, which has made ourt happy, energetic kid homebound most of this school year, no longer in any of the activities he once loved, and feeling quite crappy.

We have found a wonderful specialist who has been successful at taking the edge off of his symptoms, but we still have a ways to go with testing and treatments, and the medical bills are adding up quickly.
