Hello my name is Emily and In 2014 I had a surgery that inevitably cut my vagus nerve leaving me with the diagnosis of Gastroparesis. This is a chronic condition and unfortunately there is no cure at this time. There is especially no help for me locally. Since my diagnosis I have unintentionally lost over 65 lbs and this recent hospitalization at Stanford has left me even weaker than before. Just a few years ago I was in the best shape of my life competing as a D2 rower. It has been very depressing losing my ability to work, and function as I did before. The flare ups are the worst, violent nausea and vomiting that doesn’t go away for days at a time and I can barely handle the pain most days. Since this diagnosis is rare I have no medical support locally. I have been working with Stanford and unfortunately my insurance isn’t wanting to cover the treatments. I am asking for help to cover my current medical debt, basic living necessities, and travel for future appointments during this rough time while I am unable to work, I really want to gain weight, be healthy, and feel like a normal person again. Any help is so greatly appreciated you have no idea!! Also any medical advice or suggestions to treatment centers or any advice anyone has I will gladly take. Thank you so much for your support during this challenging time.
