Ysgol Maes y Coed PTFA is raising funds through our Women’s Touch Rugby Charity Tournament and our Fancy Dress Fundraising Walk to support our pupils and help create meaningful opportunities through our “19 Things Before 19” initiative.

Ysgol Maes y Coed is a special school in Bryncoch, Neath, supporting pupils with profound and complex disabilities and additional learning needs. Our PTFA works hard to fund experiences, resources and opportunities that help our pupils access wider life experiences, make memories, and enjoy opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to provide.

As part of this fundraising, our Ysgol Maes y Coed All Stars Women’s Touch Rugby Team has made a pledge to raise funds in the lead-up to the tournament. The team is made up of school staff and parents, coming together to support the school, build community, improve fitness, and raise money for our pupils.  Apparently, agreeing to a rugby tournament was not enough, we have also organised a Fancy Dress Charity Walk along Aberavon seafront on Tuesday 26th May 2026, starting at 11am to support ours and other team's pledges for the event.

Our main event, the YMC Women’s Touch Rugby Charity Tournament, will take place on Saturday 13th June 2026 at Glynneath RFC, hosted by Glynneath Bee’s. Local teams are joining us for a friendly but competitive day of touch rugby, community support, fundraising, food and family fun.

Money raised will go towards our PTFA fundraising priorities, including our “19 Things Before 19” project and our wider goal of improving opportunities for pupils across the school. We are also hoping to raise funds towards expanding our school soft play provision so that it can become more inclusive and accessible for older pupils too. This would involve building works and is a much larger PTFA project, so every donation helps us move closer.
