Help Us Heal

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

We are posting this in the hopes for some help on our dog Bob's unexpected medical bills from this week. From this week alone we are up to $12k in medical bills & that may climb a little higher in the next 48 hours. Bob started throwing up last Saturday morning and stopped eating which went on for 48 hours. We then took him to the pet ER on Monday where he has been hospitalized since. The vet discovered two obstructions that were lodged in different sections of his intestine, from what appear to be from pieces of a toy that he was eating. The diagnosis & initial steps alone to identify this were costly and then resulted in the need of an emergency surgery where they had to remove the objects & 8 inches of his intestine. Since the surgery he has not been able to eat & has been severely deficient on needed proteins in his blood, despite us visiting periodically & being there to try encouraging him to do so. They are going to attempt a plasma transfusion today that could potentially help all of this but if that proves to not resolve, this may result in us having to say goodbye to him. Prior to the events of this week, Bob has been in tremendously good health with no signs of deterioration at all. Regardless, this has been an unexpected financial impact to us that we are hoping will help resolve his issues but could also prove to just be a very high dollar reminder of what we lost.

We adopted Bob pretty soon after moving in together and he's been with us through all of life's ups and downs. He's been with us while we dated, adopted his sister Sandy, gotten engaged/married & moved to Chicago. On a very personal note, that many of you may not be aware of, we’ve had a huge emotional weight on us that Bob has been one of the strongest sole comforts with. We’ve struggled through 4 consecutive miscarriages in the last year & a half, which have also been very financially & emotionally impacting to us. The idea of losing our first baby, Bob, on top of all this recent heartbreak is too much to bear. We know everyone has troubles & financial burdens to deal with and it’s been hard to even set this up knowing that. With that said, we really appreciate any donation that you might be able to help with to get us through this.

We adopted Bob from the Pasadena Humane Society when he was about 1 year old. The moment we saw our sweet little Bobby Boy sunbathing in his cage, we immediately fell in love. He continues to love sunbathing…in Pasadena he would stop many a walk to simply lay down to catch some rays and in Chicago he hangs out under our skylights to try catching those same rays. Bob is a funny little leader on walks, as he will be quite decisive on which direction, he feels like going at any given time. Bob wakes up every morning by army crawling up Ashley to give her good morning kisses (the best alarm clock imaginable). Bob's favorite place to hang out during the day is under Greg's desk so he can be near his Daddy while he works.

Love,
Ashley and Greg
