Trek in England

Donation protected

Hi everyone,

My name is Christian Hasson, but most of you may know me as ‘Ace’. I have an opportunity to take part of a trek ( a ten day hike ) along the northeastern coast of England in the first week of August. These treks are an alternative form of educational learning, with a focus on helping young adults find some direction to attain the goals they have set for ourselves. A shifting of perspective, if you will. I am drawn to the idea behind the organization, and am viewing this as a form of studying,or classwork.

Taken from their website (
http://trekepic.org/epictreks) trekEpic has a clear and conscious focus...

Trek Epic provides young adults with an intercultural and international European-style, walking trek experience which broadens their vision and promotes self-awareness as they gain the skills and confidence.  On trek, though walking the same natural path, participants discover and embark upon their own, personal, inner journey, learning toexplore and articulate their skills and talents, ultimately finding passage to the discovery of their Core Gift.

I feel this is a great opportunity for me to grow and learn about myself, and discover a sense of purpose that I have struggled to find the last few years. Most of you reading this will know that my father John passed away in September 2010, leaving my Mom and I behind. A few years ago, we fell on hard times financially, which has put a large and unexpected burden on my shoulders. Having to be the proverbial man of the house, I returned from New Zealand three summers ago. Since then, I have had to hit the pause button on many of my dreams and desires, and work to support myself - and to a degree my mom as well. While things have balanced out in the last year, I am still supporting myself, which is all good and well, but it makes it hard to save any extra money to get outand see the world. Which I am dying to do.

After losing myfather, and recently my best friend Austin, I feel a strong intuitive longing to get away from Seattle and, for lack of a better term, ‘find myself’. Having dealt with loss, and working as much as I have, I’ve found it hard to get back into school and follow a passion - I have many. I believe this trek would be an invaluable experience and provide me with clarity as to what direction to take from the crossroads that I find myself in.

The cost of the trek is covered by the program, but participants have to find a way to get themselves over the pond to England. Flights look to be around $1600-1900 USD for a roundtrip ticket from Seattle to London, although I am seeking out stopovers or connecting flights to get me there cheaper. I am asking for $2500 to cover costs for travel, gear, and traveling money while abroad. Any amount helps, and I have the utmost gratitude not only for a donation, but for taking the time to read my words and give some thought to my journey. I plan on keeping a daily blog if I am able to make this happen, as well as write a song or two about my travels.

Contact me with any questions that may arise!

Cheers friends, and again, thank you for supporting me in anyway you can.

Big love!
