Annie's Global Young Leaders Trip

Have you ever had an opportunity presented to you and knew that you had to work as hard as you could to take it? I have found a once in a lifetime opportunity that has inspired me. My name is Annie Potter and I am a student at Kirtland High School. I have an interest in politics and government; I try to take every opportunity I can to learn about this fascinating subject. This summer, I have been invited to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference. It is a 10-day trip where I will work in Washington, D.C., then I will travel to New York City. This conference gives me the opportunity to interact with leaders, participate in real world simulations, learn about other cultures, and learn to speak about world issues in an informed way. I will be debating current events with other students from all over the world; an academic challenge I am looking forward to! By attending this program, I will gain leadership and decision making skills; the program will enhance my confidence, and it will give me a different perspective on the world itself.
I want to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference because I believe that it is a stepping stone towards a political science degree. I have always been intrigued by politics, and I always like to keep up with current events. For example, I have been adamantly following this year's presidential election. I personally believe that this conference will teach invaluable lessons and will then hopefully lead me to my dream job: being part of the congressional staff. I am hoping to make lifetime friends from all around the world from this incredible opportunity. This trip will open the doors for me that I need to succeed in a future in politics. I am ready to leave my comfort zone to take the trip of a lifetime.
The cost of the trip will equate to over $4000. I am doing a multiple things to work on raising money - I will be working once again at Angelo's serving ice cream and doing lots of babysitting! I have been working on this campaign with the hope of getting my message out and my voice heard. Having support from my family, I am also looking for the support of others like you!
I wish to hit my goal of raising $3200 to help with the costs and make my way to Washington, D.C. for this tremendous chance to see an inside perspective of how our systems function at the national and global levels. Along with my family, I will be so very grateful to those who can support this project in any way. Giving me this opportunity to gather knowledge through this educational experience will leave me with such great pride, and hopefully have my supporters feeling proud of me as well.
With Sincere Thanks & Gratitude,
Annie Potter
